Where are they now?

Trent Cox

Trent is a native of St. George, where he was an integral part of the local theater scene between 2001 and 2007, participating in over 20 productions with St. George Musical Theater. His notable performances include roles in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Bye Bye Birdie, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Little Shop of Horrors, South Pacific, Cheaper by the Dozen and So This is Dixie his SGMT debut. He moved to Ogden, Utah, and received his BA in Acting/Directing from Weber State University. Trent has directed numerous productions throughout the state of Utah at various theatres with credits including Cabaret, Spamalot, Rock of Ages, The Drowsy Chaperone, Annie, The Flick, I Am My Own Wife. He returned to SGMT to direct their productions of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged and Noises Off! In recent years he returned and had the honor of stepping back onto the SGMT stage in The Man with The Pointed Toes, The 39 Steps, and Little Women.

Currently residing in New York City, Trent is pursuing an MFA in Acting at Brooklyn College. He is simultaneously working as a professor teaching acting classes to undergraduate students while pursuing his master’s degree. While living in New York he made his off-Broadway debut as Chet/Pizza Man in Barefoot at the Gene Frankel Theater and performed as Mark Antony in a staged reading of Julius Caesar at Lincoln Center Theater. He’s appeared on various television shows and commercials including Blue Bloods, The Deuce, Love Life, The Innocence Files, Squatty Potty, Catalize Health, Endpoint 360, and Bed Bath & Beyond. In the spring of 2025, Trent will graduate from Brooklyn College and continue his career as an educator, actor, and director.

Delaney Westfall

DeLaney Westfall began her musical theater career at St. George Musical theater in 1999 when she was 8 years old. She was one of the orphans in the production of Annie. She continued performing with SGMT for several years in productions including Cheaper by the Dozen and Bye Bye Birdie. At BYU she was a member of the Young Ambassadors and also starred as Christine in the first-ever University production of Phantom of the Opera. She received her BFA from BYU in Music Dance Theater. After performing at Tuacahn in 2013 she set off for New York City. Soon thereafter she was cast in the Kennedy Center pre-Broadway revival of Side Show in Washington DC. The show opened on Broadway a few months later and DeLaney was the understudy for the female leads. After the show closed in Winter 2015, she was cast as Cosette in the Pennsylvania Shakespeare’s production of Les Miserables.

Following that she began rehearsals for the North American First National Tour of Beautiful, the Carole King Musical where you could find her in the roles of Marilyn Wald and the understudy for Cynthia Weil. She returned to New York in 2017 and was soon cast as Lauren, the female lead in Kinky Boots on Broadway. After a 6 month run in Kinky Boots, she immediately started rehearsals for the acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd, also in New York. She played Joanna, the damsel in distress. Shayla Osborn Beck

Shayla Osborn Beck performed with SGMT as a young girl in several productions, and notably in The Sound of Music, SGMT’s first production in-the-round. Shayla​ studied in the Music Dance Theater program at BYU, where she performed for three years as a Young Ambassador. After BYU, Shayla moved to New York City where she was cast as Ado Annie in the national tour of Oklahoma! She has also starred as Doralee Rhodes (Dolly Parton) in 9 to 5 at both the Merry-Go-Round and North Shore Regional Theatres in New York and Boston respectively. Additionally, Shayla has played roles such as Eve in Children of Eden, Christine Colgate in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Frenchy in Grease, and Fantine in Les Miserables. Shayla has also performed in six summer productions at Tuacahn Amphitheater.

Most recently, Shayla toured in both the 1st and 2nd National Tours of the Broadway musical WICKED, performing in more than 700 shows as the understudy for Elphaba and Nessarose, and as a member of the ensemble. Shayla remains active in the arts as a voice teacher and vocal coach in Salt Lake City. She is married to her husband Mark. They have two boys–Truman and Beau.

Rhett Guter

Rhett Guter is an actor, singer, dancer and magician in New York City, but began his career in sunny St. George, Utah. After Graduating from Tuacahn High School and working with SGMT he studied at SUU where he earned degrees in theatre arts and dance. Over the last 15 years he has performed as an actor in some of the most prestigious regional theaters, danced at the Chatelet Opera House in Paris, France, and sung at Carnegie Hall. Some of his favorite roles have been The Boy in Peter and the Starcatcher, Conrad Birdie in Bye Bye Birdie, Riff in West Side Story, Tulsa in Gypsy, Bert in Mary Poppins, and Curly in Oklahoma!
