Can You Hear The Music? – An Osmond Family Musical Tribute

AT THE PAC

Aug 20th – Sept 12th
Director – Robert Craig
Music Director – Melesa Kohler
Choreographer – Shellie Thomas

Inspired by the music, energy, and legacy of The Osmonds, CAN YOU HEAR THE MUSIC? is a brand-new musical tribute experience featuring seven dynamic vocalists and two narrators who bring audiences inside the phenomenon of one of America’s most beloved entertainment families. Packed with iconic hits, rich harmonies, storytelling, humor, heart, and high-energy performance, this original production blends concert excitement with theatrical emotion in a fast-moving celebration of music, faith, family, fame, and perseverance. As a new work in development, performers will have the rare opportunity to help shape an original production from the ground up while creating an unforgettable experience for audiences.

Auditions: Jun. 8 & 9

  • PAC (905 S Main St, St. George, UT)
    Studio 1

  • Day 1 – Initial Auditions (June 8 | 6pm – 9pm)
    6:00–8:00 PM: Vocal auditions
8:00–9:00 PM: Callback invitations given and Initial reads for the two acting roles

    Day 2 – Callbacks (June 9 | 6pm – 9pm)
    6:00–9:00 PM: Singing, Dancing, Reads

  • Non-singing characters:

Olive Osmond – 40s to 60s, Mother of the Osmond Family, plain spoken and wise woman.

Virl Osmond – 30s–50s, the oldest Osmond sibling. The role is Deaf; Deaf actors are strongly encouraged to audition. ASL experience preferred.

  • Singers (Pop/Rock/Country sound):

5 Osmond Male Rock Vocalists, 20’s to 30’s, Ranging from Baritone to High Tenor

1 Osmond Female Vocalist, 20’s to 30’s, High Alto

1 Osmond Male Vocalist, early to mid teens, High Tenor

  • Notes on the Production:

Unlike the musical performers, Virl and Olive are portrayed by actors who serve as the narrators of this tribute. These two roles guide the audience through the story and provide the emotional and historical perspective that frames the music.

We are seeking Deaf or hard of hearing performers for the role of Virl.

It is important to note that this production does not attempt to impersonate or recreate Alan, Wayne, Merrill, Jay, Donny, or Marie Osmond. The Osmond family members are not portrayed as characters in this show. Instead, the music is presented as part of the storytelling, serving as a tribute to the sound and spirit of their work.

Live singers represent the vocal sound and harmonies associated with the Osmond brothers, but they are not portraying the Osmonds—they function simply as the band performing the music of the show.

  • Audition Requirements:

Those auditioning for Singing roles, please prepare a 1 minute selection of an “Osmond” song or any other “pop/rock” song of the 1970’s. Singers should be prepared for a brief dance audition, please dress comfortably.

Those auditioning for Olive or Virl will be asked to perform cold readings from the script.

Important To Remember

ALL THOSE WHO AUDITION MUST REGISTER & UPLOAD THEIR PROFILE TO OUR AUDITION SOFTWARE!

  • All performers will need to have an online profile before they will be seen. SGMT will provide help at the auditions too.

    • Please upload your headshot and bio (First-page “Update Media Files”).
    • File requirements (Make sure to select Step 4 “Upload File.”)
      • Bios/Resumes: PDF
      • Headshots: JPG or PNG

  • No Appointment Is Necessary

  • Initial Auditions will be held on June 8th. However, please plan for call backs on the 9th as well.

  • Bring your music tracks on a bluetooth-compatible device – A Capella is fine if bluetooth is not available.

  • Please only audition if you plan on making a commitment to being in the show. We encourage everyone to take any role offered – your vision of your “fit” in the cast may not match the directors.

Auditioning is an excellent opportunity to develop your craft and foster relationships with directors and performers within SGMT. We look forward to seeing you, however, please don’t audition if you’ve been cast for another show that will conflict with rehearsal and performance dates.

WHILE SGMT STRIVES TO BE FLEXIBLE WITH SCHEDULING – PERFORMANCE CONFLICTS ARE A MAJOR DETERRENT TO GETTING CAST.
